What do Apple repair parts, designer handbags, and high-end watches all share?

My businesses have sold tens of millions worth of each product type.

They share one important trait.

They are constantly counterfeited.

How do you protect yourself and your customers?

Here’s how to ensure you are buying the real deal.

You must ensure authenticity if you want to be successful in selling these products.

It’s the number one question on your potential buyers’ mind:

“Is this product real?”

How do you convince these potential buyers that you are a credible seller?

Start here:

1. Reliable Suppliers

Do you know who you are buying from? Is the business reputable, and have they been in business for a long time?

Or is some unknown dude trying to broker you a deal that seems sketchy?

Do your research and only buy from trusted sources.

If a deal seems too good to be true –

It usually is.

The market for branded and designer products is tightly controlled. No one will sell you an authentic Rolex, Prada, or Apple product at 50% below market.

The demand for these items is so high that no one needs to sell them at a low price.

Be aware of market values.

2. How to Authenticate

Apple products and parts are a different beast. Email me if you want to know more about those.

Let’s keep the focus on luxury products today.

Various companies can help you authenticate designer items – watches, handbags, shoes, etc.

Search online for:

  • Authenticate First
  • Real Authentication
  • Entrupy

Each offers unique solutions that can help – a couple can help you authenticate BEFORE buying a deal. Lean on them.

3. Marketplace Authentication

If you sell on marketplaces like eBay, Poshmark, and others, most now provide authentication and inspection services for you and your buyers.

Perhaps the most important tips I can give you:

Get a Guarantee of Authentication -

Don’t buy anything without a guarantee.

Reputable suppliers will always have an option that covers you in case of a problem. This can be a simple return policy or authentication protection.

Build relationships with great suppliers that offer a guarantee on everything they sell.

You want to be sure you have time to inspect each product and, if necessary, authenticate it using one of the services listed above.

This becomes more important as you start selling more expensive items.

There are great companies selling these products at good prices that offer a lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
