I bought a deal once for $2 million and sold it for $11 million.

Lucky, right?

No.

I have six skills that led me to make this $9 million profit.

Here’s a quick breakdown of those skills and a link to the deal's details.

Bookmark this post so you can come back to it when you need to be reminded of these skills to create your own luck.

Skill 1: Be Curious

Ask lots of questions about how stuff works. If you wonder about how a business or someone’s career works, ask them.

People love to talk about themselves and what they do.

I once asked a guy how his software company worked, and after an hour of conversation, we became partners. This led to my having a number-one book on Amazon.

You never know where the luck is hiding.

Skill 2: Help Others

Learn the Law of Reciprocity.

When I was in college, I couldn’t get a tech job, so I volunteered to help a business owner.

He taught me a ton and set me on the path to owning 10 companies over 25 years.

Skill 3: Be Social:

On X, you should send DMs to people who create content you like. Tell them you like their content and start a conversation.

Do the same in real life. Building your network will exponentially increase your chances of being “lucky.”

I once met a guy at a funeral, of all places. We talked for an hour and later started a business together that generated millions of dollars in revenue.

Skill 4: Say Yes More

Experiment and try new things—work on being comfortable embarrassing yourself. Everyone sucks at the beginning!

I got asked to take over a business handling high-end watches. I knew nothing about the watch business.

I said yes, and that led to over $15M in watch sales over 12 years.

Skill 5: Ask For Help

When you don’t know what to do, how to do it, or where to get something, find the person who can help and ask them.

Most people love to help others succeed, especially successful people!

When I wanted to start a business to pay for my kids’ education, I contacted @davehamilton to see if he thought a website for daily tech deals would be worth starting.

I had no idea how to start a business like this, but I knew how to find someone who did. DealsOnTheWeb ran for over a decade, kicking out cash that made my kids smart AND lucky.

Skill 6: Create your own Curriculum

Read books, take classes, buy courses, hire coaches, and watch videos about new topics.

I doubt one thing will make you super successful or lucky – the combination of constantly learning does it.

A million years ago, I took a course on HTML programming.

I was tired of the mystery of how to build a website and sell products online.

That simple course set me on track to understand how to incorporate technology into each of my businesses. It helped me learn programming, but I also learned about marketing, customer service, communication, and much more.

That course was full of luck.

Being "Lucky” is fantastic – I love it. I consider myself a magnet for luck, and I just gave you the playbook I have used to attract it.

To recap – you will find yourself surrounded by luck if you:

  • Be Curious
  • Help Others
  • Be Social
  • Say Yes More
  • Ask For Help
  • Create your own Curriculum

Follow me @ShannonJean, and I guarantee you’ll instantly start attracting more luck!

Oh yeah, about that $11 million deal, click the link.

Cheers to your success!
